The Journey Through History, or How Did I Get Here?

Our family has a long history, which started back in "the old country". But the actual name of the location and country will differ, depending on when our predecessors were alive. And knowledge of Polish history is essential if you are to understand the Family History Journey, and how my husband and I, and our children came to be born in Australia.

This blog will be a journey through history, and as I discover ancestors, I will add or update to what I already know. This is a living document which is intended to keep our family in living memory. In the days of digital technology, paper-based books are not as popular, but this form of storytelling is actually returning to an era ago, when our ancestors used to tell us stories. Polish history is very much based on storytelling and legends. Children all remember the famous "legendy", Smok Wawelski (the Wawel Dragon), and the Syrenka Warszawska (the Mermaid of Warszawa). These are but two legends, and who knows, perhaps at some stage, Polish Legends will find their way into this story.
